Buses- Behind the the scenes

My personal impressions of bus rides are filled with grayness. Usually, strangers sit or stand together, each one in his own space and each one with his invisible walls of privacy.

But in this dullness, a bus rider can discern rays of light thrown onto the bus ceiling and mirrors reflecting multiple directions.

When the sun sets, the bus turns into a magical kaleidoscope with lights from without and within. In my paintings I try to capture the lights and the changing scenes. To a large extent, the night scenes match the feeling of unreality on the bus.

To gather the images for these scenes I relied on blurry photographs taken without automatic settings. That way I stopped myself from finishing realistic details and created an abstract effect where multiple events and places merge.

This group also includes mixed-media pictures with an emphasis on mirrors. Some are drawn and some are real, reflecting the viewer and making him an integral part of the painting.
