These pictures were never intended to be just paintings of children. Images of children express the way I feel as adult.
“SUPPORT”, for example, was a way to use intertwined lines and images to show the action of ‘holding’ in a way that would express security.
I wanted to see the sensory feeling of security and love conveyed by a visual image.
This ‘illusion’ of security was created from four pictures showing unconditional love, parental love, self-love and love of others.
The original images were photographs of a soldier supporting a wounded comrade, myself holding my son, myself as a baby and my hand in the mirror. As in the picture “BUBBLES”, white acrylic was blended with pastels so that pastel colors fade into the white background, suggesting unseen possibilities.
